A local Simi Valley business had a leaking galvanized water supply pipe behind a restroom wall. Copper Shine Plumbing completed a localized repair, replacing the affected section with a brass transition and new copper piping.

The existing piping
With the wall open, the original galvanized pipe and its connections were accessible. The before photo shows the older supply piping in the wall cavity before the replacement section was installed.

The repair
We removed the affected galvanized section and transitioned from the remaining existing piping to brass, then copper, to complete the repair.
The brass transition provides separation between the galvanized steel and copper, helping reduce galvanic corrosion and supporting a durable, long-lasting repair.
This was a targeted repair to the leaking section, with other existing piping remaining in place.

Why aging galvanized piping deserves attention
Galvanized water lines can corrode internally as their protective zinc coating deteriorates. Rust and mineral deposits may gradually restrict the opening inside the pipe, while corrosion can weaken the pipe wall and threaded connections.
Those are common concerns with aging galvanized systems. This project addressed a specific leak; it does not establish the condition of every remaining line in the building.
The completed work
The leaking galvanized section was replaced with the brass-to-copper repair shown in the photos. The work focused on the affected water supply piping.
